If you're looking for inspiration for your reading list, Red’s literary editor, Sarra Manning, has you covered with her pick of the 10 best new books to take you from back garden to beach in June.

She says, "It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve all finished watching Succession but fear not! This month sees a lot of books full of people behaving badly. Two thrillers, Bad Summer People and The End Of Us, feature folk with plenty of money and very few morals. Which is also a great description of influencer Maddy in Jane Fallon’s Over Sharing.

"And in Everything’s Fine, Cecelia Rabess explores privilege and power when it comes to one couple from very different backgrounds. Magic is also a big theme for June books. There are two novels set in the Victorian age: The Other Side Of Mrs Wood features rival mediums, and The Illusions centres around early cinema and all sorts of trickery to fool the eye.

"While The Moon Represents My Heart is a beautiful and heart-aching story about a family of time travellers. There’s also plenty of romance and falling in love with the wrong people and a memoir about motherhood and creativity that will strike a chord."

Here are Sarra's 10 best new book to read in June. Happy reading !

Think Succession by the sea as a group of rich, entitled New Yorkers decamp to their holiday homes in a small town on Fire Island so they can spend the summer playing tennis and behaving very badly indeed.

The characters in Bad Summer People are mostly appalling in the most delicious way, so when a body is found under the boardwalk, there is no shortage of suspects.
